Distance Preparation Program (DPP)

When students arrive in Esslingen in September, they should have completed at least level A1 in German. Beginners in German language learning have two possibilities to meet this prerequisite: take a language course in their home country or participate in the Esslingen Graduate School German Language Distance Preparation Program (DPP).

What does the preparation program provide?

The program covers all relevant content of German level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. At the end of the program, participants will have completed level A1 and will thus be able to continue into level A2 at the Graduate School in September.

Participants work through course content on their own, so they are independent and flexible while learning. However, they follow a fixed schedule, working on the same content at the same time as other course members (e.g. working though chapter 3 in week 3).

Furthermore, participants are intensely supported by a teacher and involved in the Graduate School's virtual classroom, and are thus in close contact with other course members as well as their teacher.

When and where does the program take place?

The program runs from June to August 2017. Start of the program is June 12th 2017.

The program is completely online. Participants should have adequate access to the internet during the course period and will need to spend about 6 hours per week for the course.

Who can apply for the program?

Only applicants, who have been admitted to one of the Master's Programs of the Esslingen Graduate School and who are beginners in German can register for the program.
